PROJECT GOALS

The project employs a “quali-quantitative” methodology, and a multi- and interdisciplinary approach to tourism. Its main goals are:

  • Evaluate the relationship between tourism and the Douro development, in a systemic and holistic perspective;
  • Provide an answer to the main research questions:
  • To bridge the existent gap between the touristic potentialities of the region and its current level of development, employing technologically-based solutions:
  • On one hand, propose creative tourism as a catalyst for the renewal, innovation, diversification and coordination of the Douro’s tourist offer;
  • On the other hand, digital marketing must not only contribute to the dynamization of the offer, but also grant a more efficient and effective communication between the supply and the demand.
